Oboes killed it tonight at the Symphonic Band/Wind Ensemble concert. Extra shout out to Cami “Double Solo Bow” Smith for fabulous oboe and English horn solos!
Last week it was my pleasure to spend a day with the oboe studio at University of Illinois. We had a class on “Oboe Repair FAQ,” I gave a mini recital of Nabors, Bowen, and Morris with @raspopovan, and a master class. I especially appreciate all the master class participants for playing so beautifully and indulging my suggestions. Special thanks to Prof. John Dee, Wesley Boehm, and Kaitlyn Dunn for hosting and making me feel so welcomed and valued. It was a great trip and I really enjoyed my first time out representing the MTSU School of Music. Let’s do it again sometime!
The MTSU Oboe Studio is thrilled to host Ari Cohen Mann on campus this month! Ari will be involved in a whole array of classes, lessons, and rehearsals, but the main event is their recital on Tuesday, February 20 at 8pm in Hinton Hall. This event is generously supported by the MTSU Distinguished Lecture Fund through the Center for Student Involvement and Leadership and the MTSU School of Music. The recital is open to the public and will be live-streamed.
